Team Toryn

Toryn was born June 6th, 2011. From birth, his bilirubin level was a little high. After further evaluation, his pediatrician noticed his stool color was light, and ordered further lab testing. Later that day, she informed us there was a problem with his liver, and had made us an appointment at Childrens Hospitalof Pittsburgh. After numerous testing and a liver biopsy, he was diagnosed with biliary atresia. From there he had a procedure known as the kasai procedure. After a long three months waiting for lab tests to improve, he was showing strong signs of improvement, although there where many, many overnight trips to Childrens Hospital fighting fevers, and early signs of cholangitis (liver infection). Now, almostthree years later, Toryn is growing stronger and stronger, and enjoys playing with his twin sisters, his dog Roxi, andplaying outside.We know we are truly blessed, and want to do everything possible to not only raise awareness about liver disease,but help fund the process, and further the pursuit tofind a cure, and/or advanced treatment.
