About this campaign

The Manilatown Heritage Foundation and the International Hotel Center needs your help! Our Kommunity Kulintang program provides instruction and musical community to all ages and levels who would like to learn the indigenous music of the Philippines. Your donation of $30 provides a student with weekly instruction and access to these beautiful ancient instruments.

The Manilatown Heritage Foundation was founded in 2003 to preserve the legacy of the historic Manilatown district of San Francisco and to commemorate the 1977 International Hotel Eviction. It currently produces family-friendly, working-class affordable educational programs in the areas of Arts & Culture, Historic Manilatown History & Legacy, Health & Wellness, Community Advocacy and Youth Empowerment. Kommunity Kulintang is one of our Arts & Culture programs, focusing on the ancient pre-colonial gong music tradition of the Southern Philippines. 

The Tiger Logo Shirt is our Thank You Gift to you for supporting this very special program. Originally used in the 1970s as a symbol of community solidarity around the International Hotel Eviction Protest, we are bringing back this beloved iconic symbol not only to thank you for your support but to also celebrate the physical home of the Kommunity Kulintang program: The International Hotel Manilatown Center at 868 Kearny Street in San Francisco CA.
