Nathan's Courageous Battle

It was 2011, when Nathan was 5, he would be diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle wasting disease. It has already started affecting his hips and legs, will eventually affect his arms and neck, then take over involuntary muscles such as his lungs and heart. He is unable to walk now, using his wheelchair.

In early February, his mom learned that he now has cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. Nathan started chemotherapy on February 5th at Riley's Children's Hospital, two hours away from where they live. He will endure 42 weeks of chemotherapy, every week. In early April, Nathan and his mom moved into the Ronald McDonald House at Riley's while he undergoes five weeks of radiation.

Over the past few years, his strength has been incredible, not to mention his mom's undying love and bravery in the face of the unknown. Nathan is now eight years old, a first grader at Riley Elementary School in Vincennes, Indiana.
