About this campaign

Did you know that only 6% of physicians are Latino or Latina in the United States (which is almost 19% Latino/a)? States such as California have an even higher Latino population reaching 39% with further increases projected. There are significant health care barriers, inequalities and poorer outcomes in this population. Having Latinos better represented in medicine is necessary. Help us create awareness of this need for more Latino and Latina Doctors by helping us celebrate National Latino/a Physician Day across the country on October 1st!

It would be incredible if YOU could help spread the word by doing the following:

• Post on social media! (when your shirt arrives AND on October 1st) Create awareness about the day! Post a selfie or photo of you and your friends/family! Post a video about why this date is important to you! Tag others that you think would be interested, please include us and we will also promote (myself, Dr. Cesar Padilla, and everyone/anyone else on instagram/Twitter). Use the hashtags: #nationallatinophysicianday #nationallatinaphysicianday

• Celebrate on October 1st! Celebrate by creating a local event/gathering, involve your local media outlets, create a news release about your event, involve marketing, and post on social media. There are several that are being organized and we will make sure to promote them as well. We have several national organizations that have supported our efforts including:

National Hispanic Medical Association
Latino Medical Student Association
Latinx Physicians of California
MiMentor
Chicago Medical Organization for Latino Advancement
Latino Plastic Surgery Society
Stanford Latino Faculty Advocacy Meeting
#LatinasinMedicine
American Society of Anesthesiologists
Kaiser Permanente LatinX Association

Please spread the word for this grassroots effort. It really is making a difference. Our goal is to create a strong annual push/advocacy for improving the amount of Latino/a physicians that we have to take care of our diverse populations.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HOPE THESE SHIP BEFORE OCTOBER 1ST (AND THEY SHOULD) BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE (UNFORTUNATELY).
