About this campaign

Friends of the people of Nicaragua have created this t-shirt as an expression of solidarity with university students, clergy, and others who are struggling to advance democracy there. Peaceful demonstrations have been met with increasingly lethal force from national and local governments. Medical personnel have been denied access to supplies at some demonstration sites.

Funds generated by sales of these shirts will be sent directly to close friends in Managua and Matagalpa to provide for medical supplies, rebuilding, and funeral expenses. For more information please visit the link below. http://environmentalgeography.blogspot.com/2018/05/sosnicaragua.html

James intended to visit Nicaragua just once, when he took a group of Bridgewater State University students there to study coffee in 2006. He quickly fell in love with the people, the land, and of course the coffee. He has since returned almost every year, introducing more than 100 Bridgewater students to the coffeelands of Matagalpa. Ashley was one of those students, making her first journey in 2013. Like James, she fell in love with Nicaragua and has returned several times. Both Ashley and James have brought members of their families to Nicaragua, and both consider themselves part of the family that is Nicaragua.

A note from James & Ashley ...
Inspired by the bravery of the Nicaraguans who are standing up for their country and distressed by their suffering, we have launched this small project in close cooperation with our friends there.

I went to Nicaragua a few years ago and will never forget it. I met the kindest people and visited the most amazing places. I wish I could do more to help.
