Ashley was not sick initially and thought she only had a hernia but went to the ER on Friday, Jan. 30th to learn that she had an abnormally large mass. She was admitted. She called me at 2 am that Saturday morning to advise that she has a 26.1 cm complex cystic structure ovarian neoplasm that they believe to be cancerous and she will have to undergo surgery but prior to they will be doing cancer markers. Those came back indicating no cancer. So surgery is set for Monday, Feb. 2nd. at 2pm. During her surgery which was 4 hours, we were not updated at all, when the surgeon came in, she advised that she had a malignant tumor on her left ovary the size of a small watermelon so they removed both ovaries and also removed 5 liters of fluid but later advised that it appeared that the cancer may have started in the colon but they will not know until the pathology report comes back. At which time they can know the grade, the stage, how aggressive; and what type of treatment.
