OPAK Clothing Fundraiser!

Spring and Summer are usually two of OPAK’s busiest times of the year when we get the opportunity to do what we love most: teach students outside! However, like everyone impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, we are trying to make the best of the situation in these difficult times. Over the past few months OPAK has transitioned its programming online. This has enabled us to continue to carry out our mission of empowering the next generation of ocean heroes and be as helpful as we can to teachers and families across the country that are utilizing virtual classrooms. It has also enabled us to reach students that we typically never could. We have had student join us on webinars from Honduras, Canada, the United Kingdom and from all corners of the United States, including our backyard in Plymouth and Cape Cod!

Our lessons have included topics such as, plankton, marine protected areas, hydrothermal vents, seals and horseshoe crabs. We have had great feedback so far, reaching over 2,000 students! However, going virtual has resulted in a large loss of program revenue and it is still unclear how the COVID-19 crisis will impact our summer programming. Now, more than ever, we want to say thank you and express our appreciation for your continued support of our mission, our programs and our students. The next few months are going to be hard, but we know we can make it through it with your continued optimism and generous support. While our platform has changed, our focus and effort on empowering the next generation of ocean ambassadors, and the protection of our blue planet, has not.
