About this campaign

In celebration of Juneteenth, Custom Ink's Racial Equity IDC (Inker Diversity Council) has launched a new fundraiser to Promote Equity for the African American community. The proceeds from every shirt purchased will go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which is committed to making "structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans."

On June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas, US federal troops emancipated those now-considered the last enslaved African Americans in the US. They had been declared free citizens over 2.5 years earlier but were deliberately not informed or freed until then. Over the years, June 19th, commonly referred to as Juneteenth, became a day for an entire community to celebrate its culture, heritage, and pursuit of a better life.

Custom Ink's Racial Equity IDC would like to invite all of you to celebrate, and also strive for a more structured and balanced political, financial, and social atmosphere. The past few years have only amplified the injustices that the Black communities of the U.S. face on a daily basis.

"Equity", defined as "the quality of being fair and impartial", is what we want to promote this year for Juneteenth.

I'm supporting this because of my niece Anita Gray, I love her very much!

The NAACP has always been on the forefront for fighting for racial justice in the US and for promoting and protecting full citizenship of African-Americans. Their Legal Defense Fund is needed as much now as it was when it began in 1940--said to say.
