About this campaign

POA SPAY! opened our doors on January 10, 2017. Since that time, we have spayed/neutered close to 3,500 cats and dogs in our community! Spaying and neutering is the only way to prevent animal abuse, suffering and over-population. By making a purchase, you will be allowing us to continue offering reduced cost services and helping to raise awareness about our clinic.

Based on phone calls and emails to Protectors of Animals, and to our SPAY Connecticut hotline, as well as the situations we have dealt with in animal welfare over the years, the are the top animal-related challenges in our area are finding affordable and accessible spay/neuter and vaccinations, keeping families and pets together through financial challenges, stray/abandoned cats, feral cat overpopulation, and abandoned dogs, particularly pit bulls and pit bull mixes (which make up most of the dogs in our municipal pounds).
Spay/neuter is a simple solution to the complex problem of the animal over-population, which is a direct result of animals left unaltered in communities. Sterilizing cats and dogs means fewer animals crowding shelters, and fewer animals contributing to overpopulation of feral colonies. This also means that animals that may not have remained in their homes because of undesirable behaviors associated with unaltered animals will have a greater chance of staying in their homes. Less animals on the streets will reduce the strain on shelter systems allowing animal welfare organizations to devote more resources to each animal, thereby increasing each animal's chance for a positive outcome.
