About this campaign

Hi friends and internet strangers!

This weekend one of my best friends sent me a video from a D.C. protest she was at against Trump's executive order effectively banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. The text with her video was "protest is the new brunch". This was an awesome text to get because it was also something I had said to my friend at the Women's March in Chicago! I replied to my friend Sarah that someone should stick that on a t-shirt. Yes, this slogan is tongue-in-cheek and likely appeals to a limited demographic of millennial-type urbanites. But I think it's a fun way to poke some fun and unite! If there is one thing good to come from this presidency I think it must be that there are a lot more Americans practicing compassionate fury. Proceeds from the sale of this t-shirt will come to me and be split between Planned Parenthood Action Organization and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). I set it up this way NOT to skim anything off the top but because Booster doesn't have a way to split proceeds between charities and I wanted to support both organizations. You can learn more about both organizations and the services they provide by visiting https://www.aclu.org/ and https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/. I need to sell 9 shirts to print this order and once I hit 9 this page will reflect the money raised. Roughly $7 from every shirt goes to the charities if 25 or less are sold with charitable margins increasing as more shirts are sold (and you can obviously make additional donations or donate without buying a shirt)!

Have you replaced mimosas with marching? Omelets with outrage? Frittata with fury?

I chose Planned Parenthood and the ACLU for a number of reasons. Planned Parenthood provides reproductive healthcare to individuals regardless of ability to pay. While many of us may have visited Planned Parenthood in high school or college, thousands of women rely on Planned Parenthood as their direct point-of-care. The Action Organization is PP's activism and lobbying wing, actively working to support initiatives and legislation that protect fundamental reproductive freedoms as well as other issues including sexual assault advocacy, voting rights, and health care equity. The ACLU works tirelessly in communities, courts and legislatures to protect Constitutional freedoms. Most recently the ACLU has mounted a challenge to the Muslim Ban, successfully obtaining a stay of enforcement on Equal Protection and Due Process grounds. Although the stay is a big victory there is going to be a LOT more work to permanently halt Trump's executive order as well as a need for ongoing action during his presidency and beyond.

UPDATE: I was just hoping to sell 9 of these and we've smashed that! I've added a navy option (youth sizes-adult 3x) as well as a cotton unisex tank and cotton youth shirt! Outfit your entire former brunch squad! As of this morning on 2/2/2017 we've raised $400!
