Christina and I were on our way to our last ultrasound for our second child at the 37 week mark with no reason to think anything but positive thoughts. We expected everything to be completely normal and then we heard four words that no parent ever wants to hear... "there is no heartbeat". In that moment, it took my breath away. I never even considered this as a possibility at any point up until it was thrown as us. What happened next was most of the typical things that happen when you have a child. We headed to the hospital to start the delivery process. There was one huge difference this time, we knew the baby would be born still, unlike our first time with Gavin who was then 2 at the time. It was the toughest thing I've ever done and we were fortunate enough to get introduced to the Hope After Loss group that brings parents that lose children together to help sort through the mess. They were instrumental in our recovery from losing Nicholas and every year we do a fundraiser in his honor and all the funds go to the organization that helped us get to the other side. Every sweatshirt bought here helps further this noble cause in honor of our little man Nicholas.
