Jordan’s story started on February 19 at age 16. He was rushed to the ER with stroke symptoms; after arriving we found out his heart was having trouble. Jordan was diagnosed with Dilated Cardimyopathy, which is when the left side of your heart isn't pumping blood well, and an MRI a few days later showed he had indeed had a stroke. Jordan was devastated and as parents you know this was a lot to take in. Jordan had been healthy up until this point; he played football in high school, played the Alto Saxophone and was living his life as a teenage kid. After IV meds and oral meds Jordan was not getting any better. We had to make a quick choice for temporary help until he could get strong enough for a heart transplant. He had heart surgery on March 3rd to have a Left Ventricular Device placed, also known as an LVAD. This has allowed Jordan to get strong and have some normalcy, but it is just temporary and he is now ready for his special gift a new heart. We know that this is a precious moment and as we will be so thankful for the gift, we also know that another family will be making the difficult decision to donate from a loved one that will no longer be here. We never know what life will bring but we hold to our faith that it will be alright.
