About this campaign

Olivia Rodriguez was a 15 year old girl, who had her whole life ahead of her. She may have had a hard life growing up, but she never let any of those obstacles bring her down. She always pushed and moved forward. Olivia was a very strong and independent girl. She didn't need anyone to help her achieve her goals. She always had her mind set, and when she wanted to do something she would do it. She always lit up the room with her presence. She put a smile on everyone's faces. She was always so full of life, and happiness. You would rarely see her upset. She was the type of girl to put everyone else before herself. She always made sure everyone else was okay. She didn't have any problems with anyone, and she was always friendly and willing to make new friends. She was intelligent, and had good grades in school. She was also an elite athlete. She used to play softball, soccer and track and field. She currently played volleyball and was a cheerleader at Northern Lehigh High School. During the football season, she was on the Junior Varsity squad, and then moved up to the Varsity squad for the upcoming basketball and wrestling season. She was a very young and healthy girl. She worked as a front counter employee/waitress at Mamas Pizza in Slatington. If she wasn't at school, work, or practice, she spent most of her time at her boyfriend's house. Olivia has touched many lives during her lifetime, across the entire world. She was known for being a leader, and helping others in need, even when she was younger. She was a very caring and loving person, and those who had the chance to get to know her are very blessed. She has left her footprints on this Earth, and we will make sure her name lives on forever.

On December 23rd, I received a phone call with some tragic news. My friend, Olivia Rodriguez, was admitted into the hospital due to complications of an asthma attack which led to a heart attack. Her heart had stopped beating for 25 minutes. They revived her two times. She was rushed by ambulance to Palmerton Hospital to be stabilized, and then she was flown straight to Lehigh Valley at Cedar Crest. She was currently in a coma when I got the call, which she remained in a coma the entire time she was in the hospital, and I immediately wanted to go up and see her. During the first 72 hours, a patient either makes improvements or they decrease in health. Olivia was improving slowly, as she would open her eyes and move slightly to people's voices and to certain sounds. Her health started slowly diminishing the next day or so, as her kidney and liver were starting to fail, and then she was doing much better. She was breathing on her own and for 2 hours straight during all of her testing, and later on they had started to feed her through a tube, but unfortunately it all came right back up. Her results came back okay, except for the fact she had swelling in her brain, which they could do nothing about. Unfortunately, Olivia suffered another heart attack on December 27th, 2016 and had passed away at 4:00 pm. She remained on life support for the next day and a half as she had donated her organs and saved about nine lives, four or five of them being babies. She was pronounced dead on December 29th, 2016 sometime in the morning by the coroner.
