About this campaign

The Reno Hawk Project explores how Red Tail and other hawk species are changing their behavior to live in cities and around people. The project is open to the public to participate in many ways, from observing nestlings, allowing the Project to install a nest camera on their property, or attending one of our public presentations.

During the 2015 season, the Project observed more than 70 nsts and installed 24 nest cameras to observe the Red Tail hawks as they raised their young. Towards the end of the season, valuable equipment was stolen, including the spotting scopes that the Project used to observe the nests Our goal is to replace the stolen equipment and continue this valuable research into how these beautiful raptors interfac with the urban environment.
