Run Like Hale and Beat Cancer!

In February 1996, Gwen Hale was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She beat (the HALE) out of it and went on to pursue her career in teaching. She has been the Writing Center Director at the University of Mary Washington for 5 years, dedicating her life to helping her students and sharing her love for writing. Gwen has created an environment full of happiness, coffee, tea, and candy; she is truly a friend to all.
In September of 2016, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer -- again. Not surprisingly, Gwen has been fighting with a smile, not skipping a beat and doing everything she can to be available for her students.
