About this campaign
Please help S.O.S. continue our effort to save Smith School from the wrecking ball, to preserve for future generations the history and heritage that this irreplaceable landmark building represents.
Save Our Smith is an all volunteer organization of citizens devoted to
the cause of saving and reusing the Smith School building in
Chillicothe, Ohio. It is our belief that this can be accomplished in an
economically viable manner which will prove to be in the best interests
of the community and of our schools. To this end, our goal is to work
cooperatively and in full transparency with the Board of Education and
City Schools administration in studying viable alternatives to
demolition in a timely manner. We sincerely believe that there has not
been sufficient public involvement in the decision making process
involving the Smith School building, and our primary short term
objective is to make certain that community input is assured before any
final decision is made regarding the demolition of this landmark
building.

This building was my junior high school. I have fond memories and realize that, even decades ago when I attended, it was full of a rich history and a wonderful legacy that should be preserved.
I believe the Smith building is of historical significance & should be honored & preserved.
I would like to see Smith saved , and not demolished.
I believe pre-WWII architecture needs to be preserved, because we don't know how to build that well anymore. Also, Chillicothe's historic architecture is its treasure and demolishing it constitutes self-harm.
Who wouldn't?
