About this campaign
The Scars Are Beautiful Project is destroying the stigma behind scars and raising awareness for CHD one picture at a time. Founder, Brigitta Zatko, travels around the world taking picture of people who have had open heart surgery and sharing their stories. After 100 people's photos have been taken, Brigitta will create a coffee table book with all their photos and stories called SCARS ARE BEAUTIFUL.https://www.scarsarebeautifulproject.com
Brigitta has so far travelled to Seattle, New York, LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, and Budapest to photograph. One of the last big trips left to photograph for the Scars Are Beautiful coffee table book is Australia. Australia will consist of visiting 4 cities in three weeks: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. With over 30 individuals wanting to be photographed, this will be the biggest trip yet. All proceeds from the t-shirts will go toward funding the trip to Australia. Travelling to Australia is set for mid February.

Even though I only had open heart surgery due to a bacterial infection, I understand the impact of the journey afterwards and for alot of others the journey keeps on being
I have an autoimmune disease that caused me to have open heart and carotid artery bypass last August. I have a "zipper" scar, as well as some intense scars on my neck. I LOVE this campaign.
