Hey, hey everyone! I am a survivor! I want to thank you all for your prayers and support throughout the years. God will truly bless you for your obedience. I would like to share my cancer story briefly. I can really use your support to help a dream come true for a survivor like me. Cancer is a disease no one wants to have or battle against. It takes prayers and self determination to make it through the rough times. Your life dreams and aspirations get cancelled or put on hold. There are places you want to travel too but you can’t because of the risk of infection. There are so many variations of cancer and each patient treatment can vary. Surviving cancer is nothing short of a miracle and people still need some support in the aftercare portion. So I will share my story and why I am doing this fundraiser. So in June of 2017 I had just that a full day planned and I got to do none of it. I found myself rushed to the hospital where they would not release because it was too risky. The hospital didn’t want to release or transfer me to another hospital for that matter. The doctors soon made a discovery which lead to a devastating prognosis. After some testing, the doctor’s prognosis became my diagnosis. Without a doubt I was not leaving the hospital anytime soon. In fact I was told I had to stay for 30 more days. I explained I had so much to do and go to a funeral. You mean, I couldn’t go to my uncle’s funeral either. Just wait in this hospital room?! Well, not just wait. That was when I started treatment for this dreadful disease called Leukemia. Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a cancer of the bone marrow and blood to be exact. The doctors said I came just in time. I could be treated with chemotherapy to prolong my life live for a few days to weeks. I choose chemotherapy of course and they started right away. The initial treatment or induction chemotherapy was a success. Then of course it wouldn’t be all so easy. I had a few complications during treatment which caused a delay and my treatment plan had to make a detour. I had major complications that had everyone scratching their heads. So the doctors had to change my chemotherapy and how long I was going to be on it was unknown. Now not only was I on prolong treatment plan; there were places I couldn’t go because I was immunocompromised. I had to stay in my own bubble, wear masks we I am away from home, and people near me had to wear a mask too. I had to tell people no I can’t go, put your mask on, and when I could come out there was nowhere to go. It was sometimes lonely but I spent a lot of time with God and preparing myself for when I can go anywhere. Then Covid-19 happened and we all couldn’t go and everyone had to wear masks. The doctors had to figure out how to give me chemotherapy safely in the times of Covid-19. I kept up my treatment plan and exercise regime during the pandemic. I got my Covid-19 vaccine with little side effects and able to feel safer going out and traveling. Then my prayers were answered after 21 cycles of chemotherapy, approximately 4 years of treatment it was time. Time to be release from treatment. Nothing but God did it. Now a few weeks have past and I need to celebrate this victory. Then contracting a breakthrough case of Covid-19 was worrisome too. Thank God I did get vaccinated my symptoms were mild and I survived Covid-19 too. I have much to celebrate survived cancer and Covid-19! I want to take my dream trip that turns out to going to Dubai in December 2022 with some friends. Anyone who know cancer treatment can have its financial and physical drawbacks. This has taken its emotional toll too. I want to go with friend to Dubai because I would like to learn about other cultures and relax after such traumatic years. I can finally get out and have enjoy life. I am not where I used to be but I am well enough to travel and have fun. Please help me take my dream trip I been waiting to go for a longtime. Thank you for your support!
