About this campaign

Our chapter is hosting this fundraiser to support BLSA’s ongoing initiatives and programming throughout the academic year. Our events—from academic and professional development programming to community service and celebratory traditions—are entirely student-driven and made possible through the support of our broader community.

Additionally, our student members have been incredibly excited about the idea of BLSA sweatshirts as a way to build pride, visibility, and connection within our organization. This fundraiser allows us to meet that goal while also opening the opportunity for alumni and supporters to participate in a meaningful and fun way. By purchasing a sweatshirt, supporters are directly investing in our mission and helping sustain the programs that define our chapter.

Founded in 1972, the Seton Hall University School of Law chapter of the Black Law Students Association was built on a simple yet powerful belief: that representation in the legal profession is essential to community impact. For more than five decades, our chapter has worked to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys by creating spaces where students can excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the communities they will one day serve.

For us, BLSA is not just an organization—it is a support system. BLSA is the welcome cookout where first-year students find community before classes even begin. It is the late-night, student-led study sessions that remind us we never have to navigate law school alone. It is collaboration with other BLSA and ABLS chapters, engagement at sub-regional and regional NEBLSA conventions, and conversations that stretch beyond the classroom and into the realities of practice, policy, and service.

Our programming reflects both celebration and responsibility. Each year, we honor our history through our Black History Month panel, uplift our future through alumni engagement events, and serve our broader community through initiatives like our annual Expungement Clinic. We close our 3Ls’ academic journeys with the Donning of the Kente, a commencement celebration that recognizes academic achievement, resilience, heritage, and collective pride.

Every event we host is a step toward fulfilling our mission. Every gathering, panel, and clinic represents hours of planning, collaboration, and commitment from students who believe in the power of the law to transform lives. Your support allows us to continue this work—ensuring that future generations of law students have access to mentorship, opportunity, and a community that believes in them from day one.

Together, we are shaping leaders, advocates, and agents of change.
