About this campaign

The South Lane County Fire and Rescue (SLCFR) stairclimb team needs your help. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The LLS is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Please join us in helping to battle these awful cancers!

The SLCFR stairclimb team is made of of 8 firefighters who on March 6, 2016 will be taking part in the 25th annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle, Washington. At 788 feet of vertical elevation, the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle stands as the second tallest building west of the Mississippi. It takes 69 flights of stairs and 1,356 steps to reach the highly acclaimed observation deck overlooking the city. The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees.

In 2015, the event featured 1,900 firefighters from over 330 different departments and brought in a record $2.2 million dollars for blood-cancer research and patient services.

The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is a race up the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. Our department will be running up 69 flights of stairs in full fire gear and SCBA. While we welcome the challenge, we are doing this to fight blood cancers. All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
