SPARK Campaign to Spread Passion and Reading Knowledge to kids in the United States and Caribbean

SPARK stands for “Spread Passion and Reading Knowledge”. Our goal is to spark passionand reading knowledge to kids all across North America and Caribbean. We were able to host a successful book drive, collecting over 1000 books. We will engage our community and friends to help us sign each donated book with aninspirational message for the HUGS Book Share program. We united with the nonprofitorganization Give More HUGS, to help students in need, and to inspire kids to like learning but to value it and take their learning to new places.


Genius hour is very important to us because it gives us the opportunity to reach out to the community and help out people around the world. We chose this project because we believe that books are a key learning tool and we want to spread our love of learning and reading. There are many students in the U.S. that don't have access to books and school supplies, and we were inspired by the #HUGSmovement and our teacher to host a SPARK Book Drive and Campaign.

We both value our education and the opportunities we have. Wewant to spread our passion for reading and learning to others. We decided the best way to "ignite their spark" was to motivate them by giving them books.


1. In our town there are so many books that just sit on bookshelves unread.
2. Donating books will help people declutter their house.
3. Giving back helps people feel good about themselves.
4. Our project is an easy way for people in our community to reach out to others around the world and make a difference in children’s lives.
5. If we could collect books from all around the world, we could make a big difference in the lives of millions of children.


The mission of Give More H.U.G.S (Helping Unite Giving Souls) isto unite giving souls to help provide students in need with the tools to inspire a love for learning, reading, and creativity. Join the #HUGSmovement to support quality education for all. It's amazing to unite with teachers and students across the United States to stand up for quality education. Simone and Remi were inspired to work with Give More HUGS as their genius hour project, which gives students time in class to complete a project that will make a difference in their community. They decided to go global with their project and connect with Give More HUGS to SPARK the love for reading to kids.

At Give More HUGS we realize that the lack of proper school supplies, resources, and support can greatly impair a student's academic success. Also, we know that a lack of academic resources can make effective lesson planning more difficult for teachers.
