About this campaign

Welcome to our online fundraiser to help support the 92nd Annual Donkey Derby Days in Cripple Creek, Colorado, on August 11 – August 13!

We are a 501(c)(3) organization and survive solely on donations, sponsorships, and proceeds from events we sponsor, like Donkey Derby Days, and participate in throughout the year. All of the profits raised throughout the year go back to the Two Mile High Club for the care and maintenance of our amazing herd of 15 wild donkeys. That's a lot of donkeys to feed! With COVID and the downturn of the economy, funding and donations have become extremely tight over the past few years. The Two Mile High Club is TOTALLY committed to maintaining this long standing tradition of Donkey Derby Days in Cripple Creek, Colorado, but we need your help!
You can purchase one of these awesome t-shirts, with an actual picture of our donkeys, and know that you are helping care for the herd and keeping a long-standing tradition alive and well in Cripple Creek.
We thank you for your generosity and support, and we hope you enjoy your Custom Ink donkey t-shirt! Hee-Haw!

Donkeys as beasts of burden were invaluable to early gold mining efforts in the World’s Greatest Gold Camp. When the mining boom began to take a downturn in the late 1920s, the donkeys that were used in the mines were turned loose to survive on their own in the mountains surrounding Cripple Creek, Colorado. Today our beloved herd is the “living history” that remains from our gold rush days over a century ago. They represent all the donkeys that gave their lives during the quest for gold in the early days of Cripple Creek.

Donkey Derby Days was created in 1931 as a way to bring customers into the local businesses. That’s almost a century ago! Today we are the oldest non-profit festival in the state of Colorado. Our organization, the Two Mile High Club, was incorporated in 1932 to become the stewards of these amazing creatures and to help preserve their history in Cripple Creek.

My mother loved these donkeys so much we’d rise from CS to see them. She taught me to love them too.

I had family that lived in Cripple Creek in the 50s and 60s. Went up there a lot. Have been there through the years. Would like to see tradition live on.
