About this campaign
The HOME Comedy Theater, a Latino-owned small business that’s been struggling to open for past two years, was recently the target of an act of vandalism meant to insult our staff, students, performers, and disparage our brand and reputation.
In the latest of an escalated campaign meant to intimidate and discourage us, late on July 30th, someone spray-painted our private walkway with what they thought was a clever insult. Furthermore, for several blocks in each direction between Halsted and Wrightwood all the way to Halsted and Melrose, , the same marking was made on private and city property with arrows leading all the way up to our front doors.
A police report has been filed and with the help of some friendly small business neighbors, we have obtained footage of the person responsible and hope to be able to add their name to the police report.
Although annoyed at this latest incident, we are focused on getting to an official opening and are extremely close. To help us get there sooner, we decided to lean into this by selling t-shirts of this “art” to raise funds to help us complete the remaining work needed to get to an opening.

With the help and support of some amazing friends, family members, and an amazing community, the HOME Comedy Theater has been working tirelessly for over two years to open a new comedy venue in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood that will feature a 75+ seat theater, two bars, a kitchen, and a training center!
Led by founder and owner Cesar Jaime, this new theater would be the first Latino-owned major comedy venue in the city Chicago and will feature some of the most influential instructors and performers in the field of improvisation of the past 30-plus years.
