About this campaign

Our team name, Mauka Strength, is embodied through Alex. Mauka is a Hawaiian word meaning "toward the mountain"—a direction that symbolizes determination, resilience, and the pursuit of something greater. Alex exemplifies this spirit by proving that ability is stronger than disability, echoing our team’s powerful slogan: "Strive for the Summit."

Hello everyone!

My client Alex and I have an incredible opportunity this spring — he has been invited to compete at the Strongest Adaptive on Earth in Miami. To make this possible, we’re raising funds to help cover travel and food expenses for the trip.

This is our second time fundraising to help Alex compete and we are so grateful for the support we received the first time around. That support helped make competing possible and showed Alex just how many people believe in him and his journey.

Ten years ago, Alex was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the belly button down with an injury to his spinal cord. His life changed in an instant.

We first met in January 2023 and Alex was afraid to step into a gym as a paraplegic. Since then, his journey has been nothing short of incredible. Together we worked toward his sobriety, strength, and independence. He learned to transfer from his car to his wheelchair, lost nearly 100 pounds, gained muscle and mobility, and built the confidence to try new sports — including Strongman.

Now, Alex is preparing to compete against some of the best adaptive strongman athletes in the world with an opportunity to set a world record. He is the definition of resilience. He works hard every single day, stays humble, and inspires everyone around him. His attitude is contagious, and he is beyond excited for the opportunity to compete again.

If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean the world to us.

Let’s get Alex to Miami!
