About this campaign
Greetings Supporter:
We need your help to raise $13,000 to fully fund a scholarship to support Black male educators. With the generous support of founding donors and other contributors, we have raised $12,000 of our $25,000 goal to create the Minority Male Educator Endowed Scholarship. This needs-based scholarship was designed to support male educators in paying certification exams, tuition, books, and other expenses related to earning their degree and becoming certified to teach in K-12 schools. Black men represent less than 2% of the teaching profession and are significantly underrepresented in educator preparation programs. Researchers have found that Black male teacher candidates need financial support to increase their presence in the profession. Please join the Center for Research and Mentoring of Black Male Students and Teachers in raising funds to regularly support male educators through the Minority Male Educator Endowed Scholarship.
The Center for Research and Mentoring of Black Male Students and Teachers are responsible stewards of financial resources. In less than a year, the Center's leadership team has put the following programs in place to increase the number of Black male educators, support them in educator preparation programs and the profession, and generate new knowledge about them. We operate the following programs and initiatives for Black male educators: (1) Black Male Teachers College (high school students), (2) Scholar Fellows Program (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students), (3) Black Male Teacher Initiative Consortium (support Black male educator affinity groups in school systems), (4) Black Male Educators and Leaders Alliance (alumni network of support for Black male educators), and (5) Black Male Teacher Speaker Series to generate solutions to support Black male educators.
