About this campaign

Rufus is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  He had surgery in October, 2014 for a ruptured ACL in his right rear leg.  Unfortunately, just six months later, his left ACL is beginning to rupture.  He'll need surgery soon to repair his left knee.

Rufus is truly one of the sweetest, gentlest, most loving dogs I've ever met.  He's everyone's best friend here, but the bond he and Simon share is quite unique.  I didn't anticipate Rufus needing ACL surgery on his "good" leg quite so soon.  His surgeon explained that there was a 50% chance he'd need surgery on the left leg, but neither she or I expected to be discussing surgery just six months after the procedure was completed on his right leg.

The surgical procedure Rufus needs done is called TTA, or Tibial Tuberosity Advancement.  He'll have a plate and screws placed on the tibia bone while cutting a piece of bone away from the tibia, which will then fill in with new bone matter creating a bone graft.  He'll then have the proper 90 degree angle in his knee.

I'm currently paying back the loan I borrowed for Rufus' first surgery.  A second loan isn't an option, so with the sales of these shirts, any and all proceeds will be used towards Rufus' surgery expense.  Thank you to all of you for your support!  It's greatly appreciated.
