General Info: The ranch borders the east side of the town of Glen Rose and extends to the east to the confluence of the Paluxy and Brazos Rivers. The Paluxy runs through the middle of the ranch, with fertile fields on the north, mesquite, oak-covered hills, and meandering trails on the south, which overlook the surrounding countryside. A unique perk of the ranch, you are within walking distance of a 7-11 and Sonic.
Camp info: Everyone must show proof of a negative Coggins test for the horse you registered to ride. ALL dogs must be on a leash—no dogs in the pavilion or public areas for the duration of the weekend. Pick up your trash. Camping is 100 % primitive, and there will be designated areas for generator and non-generator use.
Ranch Fee: The fee is $20 per day, which is included in your ride entry fee. There is no camping fee. A limited number of pens are available for leisure competitors or volunteers. Small pens are $15 per night, and the large pens (which can accommodate multiple horses) are $25.
Terrain: There are some steep uphills and downhills and many rocks. Hoof protection is highly recommended. During the trip, you will cross the river at least two times. You will be riding through the river and some pastures. There are a few cows and some wildlife, but the terrain is only moderately challenging in a few places.
Meals: Friday night on your own to visit many of the fine restaurants in Glen Rose.
Saturday night is a potluck. All volunteers eat from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Coffee is for everyone.
