Again we walk for all of those family members lost to this disease: Dan Garnsey, David Travis, Eleanor Travis Garnsey, Chuck Travis, and Myrtle Travis. We walk for a cure to prevent any other losses. 2014 marks the nineth year in a row that Team Travis has participated in the Atlanta Walk to D'feet ALS. Let's strive to make this year the best ever! Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. The above five are the only ones offically diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease but there are older genereations with evidence of the disease that can be traced all the way back to Germany with the origins of ALS. Now Team Travis is in the hands of Dan Garnsey's daughters. captained by Liz Garnsey Cagle and aided by Sam and Nikki Garnsey we intend to stop ALS in its tracks. To say the least our case is a bit stranger than most but it also means that our resolve is that much stronger to rid the world of this awful disease. We have a large monetary goal this year but we also have an even larger long term goal: no more family members who fall to this horrible fate.
