About this campaign

Help show support for Team Glenda, and help us pay it forward to support MD Anderson Houston. This is a way to keep a piece of Glenda with you, and support a group that is doing amazing things every day.

On November 26th, 2014 our family was sitting in the surgery waiting room at MD Anderson Houston celebrating our father's 70th birthday and waiting. We were waiting for Dr. Ferguson to finish the craniotomy she was performing on Glenda. Every hour we waited for the current report of how she was doing, and every hour we were hoping that was going to be the last report. When Dr. Ferguson came out to speak to us, she tried to prepare us for the news that was coming in the next couple of weeks. Glenda later would be diagnosed with Glioblastoma high grade. For anyone that has dealt with MD Anderson Houston, you get a day of appointments to meet with your team. She met with her surgeon, her neuro oncologist, her neuro radiologist, had her baseline blood work done and started the authorization process for the chemo medication. When we left the hospital that day, we heard what the next many weeks would be like. But, I don't think we really understood. For 30 days of radiation and 42 days of chemo Glenda made sure not to forget about us. While she was losing her hair, had stomach sickness and truly learned what fatigue was she made sure to update her journal, thank everyone for gifts sent, spend time with family and friends and worked. On January 27th Glenda took the last dose of her chemo medication, and on January 30th she was able to ring the bell. That was to signal she had completed her last dose of radiation. It was a great day for all of us. On February 22nd she has her next round of tests scheduled, and the one we are eager to get the results of is her MRI. On February 23rd when she meets with her neuro oncologist we will know if this round of chemo and radiationwas a success. We've asked some of the doctors what makes treatment a success, and one of them told us that success can be if nothing changed. As a family we want successbe the inoperable tumor has shrunk or is gone, as a family we want success to be they tell us she made itto remission. Reality is that Glenda will have one week of chemo every month, and will have a MRI done every 3 months fornow with doctor updates. We've had so many people ask us all what can we do to help, or do we need anything. This booster project is what you can do to help. We are blessed at this time to say just keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Getting a Team Glenda shirt will not only connect you in spirit to her, but we are giving 100% of the profit to the MD Anderson Brain and Spine Center in honor ofGlenda. Glenda is a fighter, and she will do whatever she needs to do. She has looked cancer in the face, and she has made a vow to BTHO brain cancer. Asa group I know we will all do anything and everything we can to support her, and remind her how loved she is.
