Brooke Schuessler & Tetra's Mustang Challenge Fundraiser

Hi there! My name is Brooke Schuessler and I have an addiction to horses! I have trained a few of my personal horses for myself and fell in love with training. I had a goal for 2019 to get another horse to train but I wanted it to be almost completely wild. My good friend mentioned her passion for Mustangs and how she wanted to do a Mustang makeover competition one day. After that I did months of research and studying on Mustangs because I wasn't sure if I had it in me to train a totally "feral" horse! After a while of researching, I joined a local facebook group "Mustangs of Ewing, IL" and started to browse and consider. After a couple months I saw a horse I fell in love with, when I asked about her it turned out she was put on hold for the Madison, WI Mustang TIP Challenge. Some of the members encouraged me to apply for the competition and assured me that I didn't have to compete if I wasn't comfortable with my training progress. So... I applied! Best decision I ever made. I didn't get the horse I originally wanted but I am becoming very good friends with the girl that did get her and it makes me happy to see how well they are doing! Instead of a 4 year old mare, I was assigned a 1 year old gelding with missing ears (notice the nubs on his head silhouette), most likely caused by frostbite. I named him "Gotcha Hooked" for his show name and Tetra for his short barn name. I think we were made for each other because of his missing ears! When I was 7 years old I was involved in a lawn mower accident which lead to me choosing to amputate my right leg when I was 12. After my amputation I quit all of my regular sports and threw myself into my passion of horses. I started training horses when I was 15 and I can't get enough of it! I can't wait to meet all of the trainers in Madison at the horse fair and watch all the Mustangs perform!
