Fall Fund 2025 - Aligned with Purpose

October 19th, 2025 marks one year since the Association was able to get “Back to the Future” and reinstate the New York Institute at 150 West 22nd Street. Last year, thanks to the incredibly generous support of our donors, we raised more than $80,000 during the Fall Fund alone. This year, our chosen theme is “Aligned with Purpose.” Together, let’s find ourselves aligned with the purpose to maintain a beautiful, accessible facility that functions as a vibrant hub for the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York.

Every time we attend class, we follow instructions to align ourselves in the pose. Training our attention on alignment goes beyond the pose and spreads beyond the mat. Wherever we find ourselves, Iyengar Yoga gives us the opportunity to get back on track in body, mind, breath and spirit. Our three-fold mission helps provide a clear sense of direction and support to so many students in our region.

In the last 12 months alone since we moved back to 150 W 22nd Street, we have had almost 60,000 visits by students which is 4% more than the same 12 months time period a year ago. Thousands more student visits occur all over the NY/NJ/PA region, both in person and online with the incredible teachers in our association. We support students and teachers with over 85 classes a week and have hosted four international senior teachers this past 12 months including Uday Bhosale, Jawahar Bangera, Raya U.D. and Stephanie Quirk.

We also support the education and growth of new teachers. Several members of IYAGNY passed assessments this Fall, congratulations to you all: Katrin Bichler, Ella Dovrat, Karin Eisen, Patrick Franco, Hillary Goldman, Akiko Nishijima, Simone Rutkowitz, and Amy Wolfe! Dedication is at the core of our mission and values.

This year, we invited our community to design our limited-edition fundraising shirt, and the response was truly inspiring. From the exceptional submissions we received, three finalists emerged: Gaylien Chun, Sameer Wagh, and Renata Malament. We are delighted to announce that Renata Malament is the winner of this year's Fall Fund T-Shirt Design Contest! Every purchase directly supports the 2025 Fall Fund, helping us continue our mission and serve our community.

“Align with Purpose” today, and:
- Ensure the future of Iyengar Yoga in our Association’s three state charter: NY, NJ & PA
- Help fund our classes and programs that to enhance your practice
- Assist students in need to receive individual scholarships
- Maintain access and support our ability to provide no-charge offerings such as Breast Health Classes, People of Color (POC) Classes, LGBTQ+ Classes, Community Classes and Next Generation Classes
- Create and energize our ability to program community events that bring us together
- Assist IYAGNY teachers in need by helping us to help them afford assessment, study with the Iyengar’s in Pune, and attend the “Cultivating Freedom” IYNAUS Convention next May in Philadelphia
- Help us fund programming for children and seniors outside of the Institute
