The Phightin’ Frankie Foundation was created to honor the memory of Francis James Felicioni, who lost his fight with addiction on February 24, 2018 at the age of 26. Frankie was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a loyal friend. His family and friends meant the world to him. He had a kind and caring heart, an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up any room. He was passionate about the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved being at the beach, snowboarding, riding his long board, and playing baseball and basketball. He was a blessing to all who knew him, is deeply missed and is forever in our hearts.

Our mission is to put an end to the stigma of addiction, and to provide various forms of assistance to individuals actively seeking a life of recovery.

One of the biggest factors working against those struggling with addiction, is the terrible stigma associated with the disease. The stigma discourages those suffering from being open and honest with their family and friends about their problem and their need for help in overcoming it. Imagine if your son/daughter, brother/sister, or close friend were suffering with a life threatening disease (of any kind) and were so ashamed that they chose to try and overcome that disease without any professional assistance. This is the position many individuals with an addiction find themselves in, and often their family and friends find out when it is far too late. Our goal is to to create awareness around this national epidemic in hopes that our society will become more accepting of those afflicted with the disease and work together to bring an end to it.

Another major roadblock for individuals fighting the disease of addiction is financing the earliest portions of their recovery treatment. While medical insurance sometimes covers the cost of rehab, insurance coverage is sometimes limited to a certain number of days. In many cases, insurance runs out, and the individual is forced to leave the rehab before their treatment has had a chance to make its full impact. Studies have found that one of the most effective things to do following care in a rehab facility, is to live in a recovery house with individuals that are all working toward one common goal, to overcome their battle with addiction. These recovery houses are affordable, but not cheap, and many are not able to afford their first month’s rent. Our goal is to raise funds that will support scholarships for individuals in these predicaments, as well as to help them with career counseling so that they are able to become financially independent.
