About this campaign

The arrival of The Wall That Heals in Hawai’i County represents a significant historical event honoring the memory of those who served in the Vietnam War. Michael Doolittle, Hawai’i County Committee Chairman, emphasizes, "This event is not just a display; it's a testament to our nation's history. The Wall That Heals provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and to pay our respects to those who never returned. It's a somber reminder of the enduring impact of the Vietnam War on our country and the individuals who served."

The accompanying In Memory plaque honors those service members who served in Vietnam and later died. The mobile exhibit will begin its journey in Hilo on January 22, 2024, with a motorcycle escort. The escort will encircle the city of Hilo. The 140 numbered panels of The Wall That Heals will be assembled by volunteers on January 23, 2024. The display will be available for public viewing around the clock from 2:00 pm on January 23 through 2:00 pm on January 28, 2024. Ceremonies will be held at the opening and closing of the exhibit, as well as on Saturday,
