About this campaign

Be. Nonprofit Youth Development Organization needs your help! We have set out on a journey to transform the lives of hundreds of youth by challenging them to live above their socially-imposed limitations, to go beyond a dream and choose to BE... BE Great; BE a teacher, dancer, star athlete, or engineer; BE a graduate; or to just simply BE happy. With our help in developing their character, talents, and leadership skills, they won't just stop at a dream, but will continue on and achieve remarkable excellence.

To us, your contribution means a lot. It says you have taken the Challenge to Be. You will receive a shirt to show your support and spread the movement throughout your city, state, and ultimately the rest of the United States. But more importantly, you will help us generate the funds needed to be recognized by the Internal Revenue System as an official 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization; further, allowing us to begin implementing youth development programs and conferences in the Greater Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area.

Be. Nonprofit Youth Development Organization was founded in January 2014 by Tonee Lawson. After being encouraged by her friends, family, and sorors she finally followed her passion and took a leap of faith to serve the youth under the vision her own nonprofit organization.

The Be Organization was created to challenge youth to go beyond a dream and choose to be. 'Be' is a simple, one syllable, yet powerful word. A word that precedes many influential commands, like "Be great." It is a pivotal word for people to challenge themselves to live their life through the lens of their wildest dreams while not allowing setbacks (socially-imposed limitations) stop them from achieving anything but remarkable excellence.

The concept of "socially-imposed limitations," are a few factors that we have identified as barriers to living out your dreams; the things society throws your way to hinder (not stop) your progress.
1) Peer pressure;
2) Inadequate parental support;
3) Lack of exposure to new cultural experiences;
4) Negative Media; and
5) Hunger and poverty.

We have developed a comprehensive approach to tackling all of society's 'cants' and truly believe that with proper nurturing and development, all youth will live out their full potential. The Be Organization will hold its inaugural conference in Spring 2015 in addition to youth development and community enrichment events, beginning Summer 2014.
