"Writing Is A Spiritual Journey"

Deri Tyton is an Award-Winning Writer/Producer/Director, who grew up in Chicago enjoying Kung Fu, comedy, and action movies.

I completed ten years as a screenwriter before I decided to go to film school and learn the "Hollywood way" of writing, in that time I discovered that I was missing some very important structural components and the brevity of resources that were at my disposal. Although I won awards for my previous works, it was the formal training that ignited me to do further research into the different types of screenplay structures (i.e. Hero's Journey, Who Saved the Cat beat sheet, Syd Fields paradigm) that can be utilized when writing for different genres.

Thus, I created The Film Mechanics Screenwriting Class to assist in the development of writers who are pursuing film school or learning the magic and business of screenwriting. Yet, with the information and experience I have, I feel obligated to pass it on to writers that may be encouraged with promise and purpose.
