About this campaign

https://pages.lightthenight.org/nca/WashDC18/LuciaBrave

Princess Lucia was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL/APML) on January 1, 2018. She was inpatient at the Inova Children's Hospital in Fairfax, VA for almost 4 weeks. She had daily chemo infusion (ATO) for 45 days, on top of taking a big pill (ATRA) twice a day. After 2 Bone Marrow Biopsy procedures 2 weeks apart, she was declared "in remission" for having less than 5% cancer cells in her bone marrow. She had a 2 week break from treatment and was finally reunited with her 2 year old sister, Danielle, who was away from the family for almost 7 weeks. Princess Lucia is currently in Consolidation Phase (4 cycles), and this could last up to 8-9 months. We have been Blessed with amazing family and friends, and also have met wonderful people in the "new world" we are in, the Cancer World. We have a long road ahead but with God's grace we are heading to the right path.

The wonderful people we met and who helped us when we started this journey, are also cancer families, and they formed foundations/organizations to raise Childhood Cancer Awareness and funds for Childhood Cancer Treatment Research (only 4% of federal budget for cancer research goes to pediatric cancer). It is very sad that some types of childhood cancer have the same treatment/meds that were used 30 years ago.
Please help us spread Childhood Cancer awareness and help raise funds for better, more
effective and less toxic treatments to give children a chance to live....and live a normal life.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers for Princess LuciaBrave and our family. God bless!

Rachel & Daniel
