About this campaign

HELP SAVE TULLAHASSEE means exactly that. The Township of Tullahassee, Ok needs your help. We are fear of losing our town over a past due water bill. The town is in need of $30,000 to keep our water services connected. We have 86 families that live here in Tullahassee that cannot go a minute without water in their homes. We are in need of your help. Every dollar that you give helps keep the town of Tullahassee thriving and healthy. Without water we are putting our elderly, our children and our animals in danger. Tullahassee is the oldest black historical town in Oklahoma that is full of African American history and values. Please help support the town that I love.

The Township of Tullahassee, Ok needs your help. We are fear of losing our town of a water issue. The town was incorporated in 1902 with lots of African American history and values. Please help support the town that I love.

Tullahassee Oklahoma is located in Wagoner County five miles northwest of Muskogee, Tullahassee is one of more than fifty All-Black towns of Oklahoma and one of thirteen still existing. The roots of the community were planted in 1850 when the Creek Nation built a school along the ruts of the Texas Road. Near the school, the population of Creek freedmen increased while the population of Creeks declined. The council transferred the American Indian students to another school and gave Tullahassee to the freedmen on October 24, 1881. The town was incorporated in 1902 and platted in 1907.

In 1916 the African Methodist Episcopal Church established Flipper Davis College, the only private institution for African Americans in the state, at Tullahassee. The college, which occupied the old Tullahassee Mission, was closed after the end of the 1935 session. The A. J. Mason Building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NR 85001743). Carter G. Woodson School is listed in the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory as a resource related to African American history.

Water is a basic human right. Not something to be used for coercion.

I attended and graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School as Valedictorian in 1965. I also worked as school Secretary for seven years. I am very proud of my Alma Mata and sincerely hope that this campaign does the job of keeping Tullahassee going.
