Vic Firth was the principal timpanist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 46 years. A performer by craft and an entrepreneur at heart, his pursuit of musicality lead to a lifetime of accomplishments both on and off the stage. As a performer he was known for his incredible musicianship, elegance and impeccable timing. When he couldn’t find drumsticks that met his discerning requirements, Vic began making his own. Established in 1963, the Vic Firth Company is today the world’s largest and leading manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets. Vic passed away last summer at age 85 from pancreatic cancer. Our PMC team - organized by Vic's daughter, Tracy - is made up of co-workers from the company. We are inspired to ride because Vic touched each of our lives in profound ways. He was persistent above all else and expected nothing less of those around him. He challenged us, believed in us, and always wished us great success”. We are honored to ride as Team Vic Firth in the 2016 Pan Mass Challenge! We'll be spending the spring and summer training, and on August 6th and 7th we will make the 163 mile journey from Wellesley to Provincetown. We thank you for your support!
