Vincent's JDRF League

Vincent is an active, tough seven-year-old who enjoys playing ice hockey, riding horses, art and torturing his older brother Elden. Among his recent accomplishments are graduating from the first grade at Luckey Elementary, learning how to trot on his favorite horse Baxter, scoring six goals in the 2015/2016 hockey season and winning the JDRF One Walk Best Tee Shirt Design award for the second year in a row!!! Vincent was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of four. Since his diagnosis, he has used his drawing talents to create one-of-a-kind walk tee shirts, which he sells to raise money for JDRF of Northwest Ohio. To date, he has raised over $3000 to help JDRF find a cure. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, which prevents Vincent's body from producing and using insulin. Those with type 1 diabetes must take insulin intraveneously several times a day for life, or until a cure is found. Type 1 diabetes is not caused or maintained by lifestyle choices. People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin regardless of what they eat or how active they are. JDRF has funded research which has led to advances in technology thahave improved the treatment and quality of life for people affected by type 1 diabetes.
