My first visit to Lakeshore was Parent / Child weekend of 2007. My mom grew up going to summer camp at Lakeshore and wanted us to love it too. I stayed with my mom that summer, I was around 6 years old and have felt a connection to Lakeshore since that first weekend. I knew I wanted to go back – Lakeshore became a part of my summer and I haven’t missed a year since.
 

Hello, I am Waide Jackson. I am a Senior at Houston High School. I’m in the Honors Program and am encouraged to complete a Senior Capstone project that involves an area of interest. I chose to do a fundraiser with Lakeshore Camp and Retreat Center. I have been attending Lakeshore summer camps and retreats since I was in elementary school. My experiences at Lakeshore have filled my life with out of this world friendships and memories that have hugely impacted the person I am today. Even though I am just a senior, the results of this incredible place have brought me some of the best opportunities of my life, being a volunteer counselor and a United Methodist Memphis Annual Conference Youth Council Member. I thought the perfect way to spend my time and effort would be to give back to a place I love so dearly, so that kids who need and deserve this opportunity are able to go to camp and encounter life, love, and the God of grace. I have designed a t-shirt inspired by my time at Lakeshore and all the profits will go towards the camper-ship fund. Let’s send some kids to camp!!
