Warriors for Women

I never intended to be a cancer survivor because, like most people, I never anticipated being diagnosed with cancer. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I was expecting the typical college year. Suddenly, my world was shattered and the nightmare began with a diagnosis of the early stages of Cervical Cancer. The weeks and months that followed were the most frightening months of my life. After numerous surgical procedures, I was told that if my cancer had not been detected during a scan of my gallbladder,I would not have lived to see my 21st birthday. This is why I founded "Warriors for Women" - to educate young women about their health.As women, it’s our responsibility to start talking about doctors, cancer history and women’s health – we can start at home with mother, sister, aunt, and/or grandmother and then we can take it to our relationships such as best friends, and classmates. Starting candid conversations early in the lives of with young women will lead to living a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their lives.
