About this campaign
Hi team! My name is Lauren and I am Ray's oldest daughter. We have been participating in Tunnel to Towers 5K's in NYC for many years. The foundation is near and dear to our hearts. It allows us to keep the memory of my dad alive while raising funds for great causes such as building smart homes for our catastrophically injured military vets or paying off the mortgages for our slain police officers, firefighters and military members. When we relocated to TN in 2016 we could not leave the foundation behind, so we brought the 5K with us and headed up the first Middle TN T2T event! Cindy approached me about wanting to get Big Five involved with the 5K and it meant so much to me. We are proud to join We Run for Ray and Big Five together for the 5K this year and are so happy that you have decided to join us in the foundations mission of " WHILE WE HAVE TIME, LET US DO GOOD". We can't wait to see you there!

We Run for Ray was founded in memory of Firefighter Ray Meisenheimer who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Ray, a 20 year veteran of the FDNY was finishing up his shift at Rescue 3 in the Bronx when the alarm went off for the Trade Centers. He hoped on the rig along with 7 other members of Rescue 3 and raced into the South Tower. They never came home. Ray was scheduled to retire in November 2001 and left behind a wife and 2 daughters.
