About this campaign

My son & husband are both disabled and i need a dependable vehicle to get them both to and from doctors appointments and hospital stays.

Cameron has spina bifida and has survived 43surgeries thus far, in spite of 4 near death instances. Before he was born they told me he would never walk without a walker or other device to hold him up. But with the assistance of leg braces he walks for short amounts of time. Cameron doesn't have a bladder so his urine drains directly into a urostomy bag and his bowels don't work properly so he also has a colostomy bag. He has a VP shunt that constantly drains fluid off his brain into his abdominal cavity. His skull is fused to his cervical spine down to his 6th vertebrae. Cameron uses a motorized wheelchair to get around at school because walking all day would wear him out too fast. In spite of all his physical short comings he has managed to stay caught up in school for the most part and even reads ahead of his grade level. Thanks to his strong faith in God he has the brightest spirit of anyone I know, even right after surgery he's more worried about how I am doing than his own pain. We travel over 800 miles to get to the spina bifida clinic and the specialists that have kept him going. Our current vehicle is unable to his motorized wheelchair and his manual wheelchair has to be broken down and then we have no room for luggage. Our vehicle also has 265000 miles on it from the last 4 years of going to and from Dallas and San Antonio. We are trying to raise this money to get a wheelchair accessible van that has way less miles and can hold either chair easily so we will be able to use it for years to come.
Now I have to fundraise the approximately $65,000 we'll need to get a dependable wheelchair accessible van. Most recently Cameron had most of his right foot and ankle amputated so his wheelchair will definitely be in use.
