About this campaign

https://whywakewalks.com

On February 14, 2018, 17 lives were tragically lost in a school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. We, as students, have had enough. On April 20, 2018, students from high schools across Wake County will come together to protest gun violence in our schools. Join us at 4pm on Halifax Mall in downtown Raleigh. Please purchase and wear the orange shirt for sale so we can show solidarity with each other and the thousands of other student-led movements across the nation. All profits will be donated to the victims and families of the shooting in Parkland to help alleviate the financial burdens they are facing such as medical bills, funeral costs, etc.

School is a place to feel safe and respected. I am proud to be a product of and a teacher in Wake County, and I am proud of these students for having a voice.

I support this campaign because without it we cannot ensure safety in our schools and with it we can change the minds of our congresspeople and change the communities that we live in for the better.

My family and I lost friends in the horrific tragedy in Parkland, Florida. I’m proud to stand with our students as they elevate their voices to demand our attention in the hopes of common sense legislation and basic safety.
