Our Story: The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge was founded on a simple belief: every wild life matters. What began as one rehabilitator's commitment to helping injured and orphaned wildlife has grown into a volunteer-powered rescue, rehabilitation, and education organization serving thousands of animals across New Jersey since 1991. From tiny orphaned squirrels and fox kits to injured bobcats, raccoons, and other native wildlife, our team provides emergency rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and ultimately the chance to return these animals to the wild where they belong. Operating 24 hours a day through our wildlife hotline and supported entirely by donations and volunteers, we are often the last resort for animals with nowhere else to turn. Every day, injured, orphaned, and forgotten wildlife arrive at our doors with one thing in common—they need help. At The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge, we dedicate our lives to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing New Jersey's native wildlife back to the wild where they belong. Powered by volunteers, fueled by compassion, and supported entirely by people who support our mission, we've spent decades answering the call when animals have nowhere else to turn.
