About this campaign
On August 21, 2017 Wild Love Preserve and the Challis Wild Horses will fall within the much anticipated "Path of Totality" - meaning we will experience a total solar eclipse on the wild side! To mark this historic event artist + founder, Andrea Maki, has created a commemorative Wild Love Preserve t-shirt with the coordinates and time of the solar eclipse in Challis. Let's celebrate and forever remember this special event and support the lasting wildness of the Challis Wild Horses on their home turf in central Idaho.
We are Wild Love Preserve and our mission is to protect and preserve western wild horses in their native environments and nurture the legacy of respective indigenous ecosystems as an interconnected whole, now, and for future generations. Founded in April 2010 by contemporary visual artist, Andrea Maki, Wild Love Preserve has pioneered an innovative model which engages public and private lands to address all facets of regional wild horse conservation on home turf - from our collective-adoption of 135 Challis, Idaho wild horses following the 2012 government helicopter roundup of the Challis Herd, to WLP's collaborative work on the range and creation of WLP's permanently protected private wild expanse in the heart of Idaho wild horse country.
Since 2010 Wild Love Preserve has been leading an innovative path to collaborative solution, on and off the range, which engages all stakeholders. We have proven it works, helped many along the way, influenced and inspired countless. The fact remains, funding is required to do the work we do in saving wild horses on native turf and wild horses need our support more than ever. Please join us in saving our wild horses, power is in numbers. As a registered non-profit we are raising funds for daily operations of our 135 Idaho wild horses, supplemental winter hay and the 400 acres we lease for them while we fundraise to purchase our permanently protected wild expanse. From our onset, 100% of the profits from Wild Love Preserve brand products designed by Andrea Maki, directly benefit wild horse well-being, care and lasting wildness. Dawn, morning of the eclipse, a wild horse is in the old stables surrounding the spring where we were camped, below Borah Peak.,ID A lone black horse. Up the steep slope, he jumps the fence with ease and turns to look at me, still as a statue.
Have horses adopted on my farm. Love, revere these magnificent creatures....
Working towards a biology degree with an emphasis on equine sciences. While writing a paper about the wild horse management crisis, I ran across the Wild love preserve and Mrs. Maki's management method. More public education is needed.
