About this campaign

New York City has 8 million people, each with his or her own story to tell.  Approximately a million of them are public school students.  Middle school in particular can be rough- help make it better!  By buying this t-shirt you help bring authors, poets, and other storytellers to our middle school classrooms for a full day celebration of literacy and self-expression.  Plus, each time you wear or gift this shirt you promote the joy of reading!

Write to Read Day is an annual middle school conference where students attend workshops around literacy and communication.  This year we have invited authors, poets, a dancer, a puppeteer, graphic novelists, and technologists. Hands-on workshops let students create their own poem, artwork, comic, or short story guided by professionals in the field.  Students choose their session preferences and get a schedule tailored to their interests. All funds raised help pay presenter honorariums, purchase student commemorative writing notebooks, and any necessary art and writing supplies.
