The Children's Heart Foundation (CHF) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization solely committed to funding Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) research. Congenital Heart Defects are America's most common birth defect, affecting nearly 40,000 babies a year. CHF was founded in 1996 by Betsy and Steve Peterson after losing their son, Sam, to a CHD at the age of 8. The mission of CHF is to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs. Since 1996, CHF has funded millions of dollars of life-saving CHD research.
