Gut It Out Crohn's Walk Crew 2017

"I got diagnosed with Crohn's disease in April of 2014. In the short 3 years since I was diagnosed I have had countless visits to the er, have tried several different forms of treatment (including infusions, injections and various oral medications) and have even had a major surgery with a section of my intestines being removed. This disease attacks in a vicious way and can change someone's life drastically. Many organizations volunteered to help when I first started receiving treatment and my initial 7-day hospital stay. I feel it is a disease that we don't know enough ab and it is crucial to keep funding research and treatment to hopefully find a cure and help others like me. This is why when I found out in 2014 shortly after my diagnosis I knew I wanted to be apart of Take Steps for Crohn's and Collitis!! The walk is organized by the Crohn's and Collitis Foundation of America and the event happens annually. I am proud to say that Gut It Out has been able to participate every year since 2014. Our team of friends and family members grows larger every year and it means so much to have that kind of support. Especially since I lost my father very suddenly only months after recovering from my first Crohn's surgery. He was such an important person in my life, a leader, a role model, and truly helped me become the women I am today. He had touched all of our lives in some way. So we walk for him and for each other to remind each other that together we can achieve anything.
