"This past Saturday, October 19, 2013, we walked in honor of my Uncle Don who was battling skin cancer - also known as melanoma. Unfortunately, my Uncle succumbed to this horrible cancer yesterday, October 22, 2013. The Bruce Gorder 5K Walk for Melanoma Awareness took place at the University of California, San Diego Moores Cancer Center- this year was the 20th Anniversary of the walk. It was started by Bruce Gorder's father, in memory of his son who passed away from melanoma - all proceeds and donations for the walk help to fund melanoma research. We love our shirts from Custom Ink and are very proud to wear them! There are a few pictures of our team/shirts posted on the Bruce Gorder facebook page. Custom Ink even made a donation to help fund melanoma research." - Team Little (Oct 23, 2013)

So sorry to hear about your Uncle. I lost my Mom in 2009 to stage 4 melanoma. She was only 50 when diagnosed. She fought it hard for 18 months. My siblings and I walk in memory of her each year. We raise money and purchase Walmart gift cards and donate them to our local cancer in Hattiesburg, MS. We also use part of the money to purchase groceries for a local hospice centers food pantry. Our Mom was a giver. She loved helping others, so it was awesome to start a Memory Walk in honor of her.
